About Us

Book People has been a part of the Sioux City community since 1977.  Stared by a group of friends who shared the love of reading, the store opened at Indian Hills Shopping Center eventually moving to Marketplace Shopping Center in 1986. Currently owned and operated by Chriss Camenzend, Book People offers books for all ages, greeting cards and a wide assortment of gift items.

We are the only independent book store in Sioux City and pride ourselves on providing great customer service. Teachers receive 15% discount on any books used for classroom and students. Just let us know when you check out. Book club members also save 15% on any books you purchased for your club.

A note to our customers:
We hope all of you are well and staying safe during this challenging time. Currently we are in the store from 10am tp 4pm Monday through Saturday to take your orders by phone, website and email.   Our goal is to make it easy to get books and other merchandise to you and your children. We will have additional information and updates on our Facebook page and website.

Especially now with schools and libraries closed, we want to make sure you have access to books, games and puzzles and are offering alternatives to shopping inside the store.

Call us to place your order and when it’s ready we will call you for credit card payment. Give us a call when you drive up to the store and staff will deliver curbside.

We will deliver locally to your home or business with orders over $50. Call to order, pay with credit card and when order is ready we will schedule a delivery time when you are available.

As always, we can mail books anywhere in the country and will deduct $2 from normal shipping fee. Orders over $100 will receive free shipping.

Gift cards are another way to help us keep our doors open and at same time can be a welcome gift for homebound neighbors.

We want to thank all of you for continuing to support your local, independent book store and except for providing toilet paper will do all we can to make this time easier.
